This workshop will begin with an exploration into understanding addiction and substance use disorders from the neurobiological, historical, and data-driven perspectives. We will discuss the impact of bias and discrimination as an obstruction to supporting people with substance use disorders (SUD).
The training will then prepare each individual to successfully administer an evidence-based substance use screening tool and review the principles and components of a Brief Intervention (BI) to effectively implement Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT).
