Diana works with acrylics and mixed media\, including fabric and collage\; her work is in collector's homes and offices in America\, Europe\, Australia\, and New Zealand.\n\n \n\nDIANA MALIN\n\n \n\nArtist Statement\n\nI am motivated by the mystery that abstract art allows viewers to interpret for themselves. The color combinations I see in nature\, worldwide travel\, years of color study\, fashion styling\, theater\, and music are often my key inspirations when I begin a series. Starting with a blank canvas\, I make the largest stroke first\, often followed by adding a patterned collage\, mark-making\, or element that motivates each additional step in my composition. My growth is often in community settings where I have learned and painted with otherartists on the same work as part of my discovery process. My work usually begins on a large scale\, and I then create series that are accessible to many people. When someone is moved\, touched\, or relates to one of my paintings\, regardless of my intent\, I feel I have succeeded.
