EMERGING THREATS IN THE ILLICIT DRUG SUPPLY: UNDERSTANDING MEDETOMIDINE

Participants will be able to recognize the clinical features of medetomidine-associated intoxication and withdrawal, differentiate these presentations from other withdrawal symptoms, and apply appropriate evaluation and management strategies. Early recognition, limitations of routine toxicology testing, and strategies to reduce risk and support harm reduction for people who use drugs that may be exposed to medetomidine-contaminated substances will also be discussed.
