Nonprofit Board Development: Building Active, Engaged Boards – Online
This 90-minute virtual training is designed for nonprofit founders, incorporators, and board members who are working to strengthen board participation and effectiveness. The session focuses on the responsibilities of nonprofit boards and how those responsibilities show up in day-to-day service. Topics include board roles in governance, supporting and sharing the organization’s mission within the community, participating in fundraising, and understanding why board giving is important to the organization’s sustainability and credibility. The session also addresses common challenges that lead to low board engagement and unclear expectations. This training provides a practical foundation for boards that want to move toward more consistent, active involvement.
During this session, participants will:
- Review the role and responsibilities of the nonprofit board.
- Clarify expectations for board involvement beyond meetings.
- Understand how board members support the mission through community engagement.
- Examine the role of the board in fundraising and why board giving matters.
- Identify common barriers to board engagement and ways to address them.
