Major economic wins for Wilson

The future is bright for Wilson and the region.  Led by efforts of the Wilson Economic Development Council, the following industrial recruitment projects have been announced for our community in just the past six months: 

  • SCHOTT Pharma will invest $371 million and 400 jobs at a new facility to be constructed at the Campus at 587 industrial park in southeastern Wilson County.  The company makes containment and delivery devices (like vials and syringes) for injectable drugs.
  • IDEXX Laboratories will invest $147 million and 275 jobs at a new facility at the Wilson Corporate Park, near Purdue Pharma.  The average salary will be $63,873 per year.  The company builds diagnostic software products and services for the pet healthcare industry.
  • Reckitt Benckiser Health will invest $146 million and 289 jobs by renovating the former site of Sandoz at the Wilson Corporate Park.  The average salary will be $80,182 per year.  The company makes a number or recognizable hygiene, health, and nutrition products, including Mucinex cold medicine, which will be manufactured at the Wilson plant.
  • Neopac the Tube will invest $10 million and add 27 jobs to its current facility at the Wilson Corporate Park.  The average salary of the new positions will be $63,315.  The company makes bioplastic tubes for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and dental industries.
  • Johnson & Johnson will invest over $1 billion and 420 jobs at a new facility at a 175 acre site in the Wilson Corporate Park.  The average salary will be $108,823 per year, more than double the county average.  The company is a global leader in precision medicine, and will make biologic medicine at the Wilson plant. 
Combined, these projects add more than 1,400 new, high-paying jobs, and nearly $1.7 billion in new tax base for Wilson County.
