This is what long term investment looks like

Wilson Chamber member PMI U.S. is investing in the future of American manufacturing, and they’re highlighting this work in a new Invested in America campaign. And here at the Wilson Chamber of Commerce – we think it’s worth taking a closer look.

Right here in Wilson, North Carolina, PMI U.S. is providing jobs to hard working North Carolinians. That translates into good wages, stable employment, and long-term economic growth that supports local schools, residents, businesses and infrastructure.

With approximately 30 million American adults and nearly 15 percent of adults in North Carolina still smoking, there’s a pressing need for better options for these adults. That’s where PMI U.S. is focused - on developing new, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-authorized smoke-free alternatives that are shown by science to pose less risk than cigarettes.

Companies like PMI U.S. could easily play it safe. Instead, they’re leading. And that leadership extends to community support as well.

Since launching their philanthropy program, PMI U.S. has donated roughly $25 million to charitable causes that hit home for many of us: veterans, economic opportunity and natural disaster recovery. In 2024 alone, they supported more than 300 nonprofits across 35 states.

That kind of community presence matters. It shows that they’re here for the long haul.

At a time when some businesses and corporations aren’t sure about their commitment in the United States or shifting responsibility to others, PMI U.S. is leaning in. They're making bold bets on American workers, on public health and on the places where they operate.

If that’s not real investment in America, I don’t know what it is. More companies should follow their lead.
