POSITION DESCRIPTION
Marketing & Events Intern
The Wilson Chamber of Commerce is looking for a creative and organized intern to assist with social media marketing and major events. In this role, you’ll get hands on experience planning events, creating and publishing social media content, and connecting with the Wilson business community. The preferred candidate will have a firm understanding of basic office technologies, demonstrated experience with innovative and responsible social media strategies, graphic design software, and able to quickly learn and adapt to changing conditions.
Reports Directly To
Marketing & Events Manager
Education
Must be a currently enrolled college student. Professional aspirations to serve in a nonprofit, governmental, or other public service role is a plus. Coursework in marketing, communications, information technology, and graphic arts are also considered beneficial to the preferred candidate.
Responsibilities

Create and publish content for social media

Design eye-catching graphics and promotional materials

Assist with planning, promoting, and executing Chamber events

Update existing information on our membership database and website

Pitch in on additional office tasks and special projects as needed
Other Requirements
Must have access to a personal laptop computer and reliable transportation.
Compensation
This internship includes a $1,000 stipend, which will be paid in two installments: half after the first thirty days and the remaining at the end of the semester.
Timeline
The internship will align with a traditional academic calendar and is expected to run from early September through mid-December. There is potential for the internship to be extended into the following semester based on performance and organizational needs.
Work Environment

Work hours will be variable based on Chamber needs and schedule availability of the candidate.

Most work assignments can be performed remotely, but the candidate will be expected to work on-premises on an agreed upon schedule. When on-premises work is required, 75% of the time will be spent in a typical office setting, performing regular office functions with the other 25% spent off-site at member businesses, event venues, and other professional settings.

Occasionally, tasks related to the Chamber’s program of work will be physically demanding, and work outdoors in adverse weather conditions may be required. The ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. is required.
